Walking the line between nerd and cool.

Blessed Indeed

I got to speak to the congregation yesterday and today during the announcements.  I wanted to share with them the passion and excitement for ministry that came out of our recent conference.  It was fun to see the looks on their faces as I shared my heart with them.  We talk about being a body working together for a common purpose, but it seriously felt like that while I was up there.

It’s not just something we say, it’s who we are.  From youth to Haiti Missions to the food pantry to the upcoming Katrina trip.  We really are the body of Christ, working as a unit to achieve great things that none of us could do on our own.  Our long-time members are a part of it and people walking in the door want to be (and are!) a part of it.  I’m so thankful for the hearts of our people.

I’m also thankful for Alicia today.  She was wildly excited about something we did at the conference that she wanted our youth to experience.  She emailed Rick Lawrence, the editor at Group Magazine, to get a copy of the pictures used at the conference for a prayer exercise where we sat and listened to God for two periods of 3 minutes each.  She asked if we could do it this Sunday and it seemed to fit really well with the lesson so we did.  The youth were absolutely silent during the exercise.  It seemed like they were fully engaged in it.
