Heroes of the Bible

I’m starting to think about ideas for Crossroads Sunday School for next fall.  One of the series I have in mind is titled “Heroes” and would be themed around the the TV series Heroes on NBC.  We have a number of youth who watch the show, it seems, and it seems like a fun way to catch their interest.

I’m looking for heroes from the Bible that we would study.  It’s probably a 6-week series, but if you could pick some heroes of the faith to look at, who would they be?  Why?  What about them would interest our High School youth?

I vote for Esther! She was brave…took risks so that God’s people would be saved. Understood relationships and courage and knew that “she had come into the kingdom for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). I also think it would be good to have at least one chick.

Caleb says – Gideon – He obeyed God with a small army and still conquered the enemy.

Samuel says – Joshua – He followed God’s rules and plan. He depended on God’s strength and not his own.

I say Daniel – His love for God outweighed his fear of man’s rules. He and stuck up for what was right when the majority was going their own way.

I’m sure I can think of more. In the chick department – I would say Hannah. She agve up what she desired most for God’s best.

David is mine. He would screw up but always came back to God. I’d love to see you include a woman as well!

    I would vote for Jesus!
Secondly, I like Joshua. Moses was a tough act to follow, but He didn’t worry about that. He was just the man God called him to be. Those Israelites could be stubborn!
