Thanks in part to a memorial donation, and in part to the Transformation Ministries budget, we now have our very own ID Badge Printer. This is the first draft of the design for staff badges. Sue and I have have been wanting one for a while. Here’s why:
- They’re great for security. We think parents will love walking into the building and see us wearing them. It says we know who belongs here and who might not.
- What was the name of the person who greeted me when I came in today? If only they had a name tag on!
- IDs help visitors know who to seek out for help answering questions.
We’re still working out the system, but there will be color codes for different areas as well. For example, staff will all have maroon lanyards. "Frontline" volunteers that might have regular contact with visitors (like greeters, for example) will end up with a bright yellow one. Hopefully this will make us more accessible to visitors and help us learn some names around here.
A big thanks to Sue Smith from ID Edge Inc for helping us find the right system for us. She pointed us to the Magicard Avalon. I shopped around based on her recommendation and couldn’t find anything else close to the quote she gave us!

Super cool! Will that be functional for VBS?
Yup. I’m going to start working on the badge design sometime soon.
I’m available for testing your picture taker, so that I can then have my own badge and thebn will not forget who I am
