A while back, our youth put on a talent show as part of a fundraiser for Workcamp. I was cleaning out some space on my hard drive and came across the video recordings we did. I’m working on getting them formatted for YouTube so you can see the performances if you missed it. Here’s the [...]

Yes, that’s correct. I found a Facebook App that you must install. It’s called fbCal. Once installed, it creates an iCal file for your friends’ birthdays and another for events you register for on Facebook. The events aren’t useful to me, but the birthdays thing is great. I subscribed to the iCal file in Google [...]

Being a part of a good church is liking having a 3rd family. There’s my side of the family, Jaime’s, and our church family. Since we broke the news of our pregnancy to the church family, we’ve been showered with all kinds of wonderful blessings. From the material (LOTS of cloths and furniture offers plus [...]

I like to be on the bleeding edge of software. I always have at least 3 or 4 programs installed that are in “beta” form. Generally speaking, the few bugs that come along with Betas are acceptable to me. My web browser, however, has been an exception to that policy since the days of Firefox [...]

The last of my stuff is out of the old office and into the new. The move took much longer than I had hoped, but it was a good opportunity to settle in and make sure everything had a place in the new office. Now I need to get the nameplate switched and the new [...]

As you know, I’ve been evaluating the ESV lately. I originally wrote that it feels familiar and different all at the same time. I don’t remember the first Bible I received, but the oldest Bible I own is my NIV Study Bible that I got when I was confirmed in 1991. One of the interesting [...]

Jaime and I spent the afternoon/evening with our good friends celebrating our birthdays. It only took us 2.5 months to find a time that worked for everyone. We grilled out, had a great meal and then went Geocaching. We head to Allegheny on Monday for another day of caching. The weather sure has been great [...]

Jaime and I went to the Drive-In again last night. We brought a radio, which significantly helped with the sound issues. We also stayed for both features: Indiana Jones and Iron Man. Indy was exactly what I would expect from an Indiana Jones movie. It had all the pieces I would expect it to have [...]

Tony Morgan is covering the Whiteboard Sessions on his blog. One interesting note from Mark Batterson’s speech:
I’d rather have one God idea than a thousand good ideas.
Right now, I feel like we’re coming up with lots of good ideas in Student Ministry. Are they leading to (or springing from?) a God idea? I don’t know. [...]

Information wants to be free. I know people want to make money on their information, but the Internet has really changed the old model. “Pay” information is still useful. For example, I’m more likely to trust Britannica over Wikipedia if my life depends on it, but the gap is narrowing between the two. For most [...]
