Parents are the primary spiritual influencers–for good or for bad–in the lives of their kids. Media, peers and schools have significant influence, but parents are the pinnacle. They can control what media comes into the house, what school (if you’re willing) your kid attends and who they hang out with outside of your presence. The [...]

To conclude our whirlwind of visits that started last Saturday, my Mom is now in town visiting. We went to the golf dome today to hit some balls, my first time out this season. As it turns out, it was demo day there, so there were tons of people. We managed to find an open [...]

Our My Bible event starts this Sunday. For Student Ministry, this means that we lose one of our ace teachers for the quarter, namely Marsha Peth. Marsha does such a great job with our 6th Grade Sunday School every week. Her big heart and willingness to do anything to reach the kids are big assets [...]

One of the things our consultant told us about communicating is that we should sell ourselves through the art of telling our story. Our story communicates who we are, what we believe and where we’re going in a powerful, personal way. I loved the idea. We have an awesome collective story to share as a [...]

Chikezie goes home. I’m good with that. I’m hoping this will shore up a base of support for Syesha now. For some reason, despite her great pipes and personality, she’s just not making a connection with the American public.

Jaime and I, and sometimes Zack, watched the show this evening together. Ramiele, Jason and Kristy in the bottom three, Kristy being the first back to the couches. Of course, I have to decide based on only seeing 8 of the contestants as the feed to the Buffalo region appears to have cut out for [...]

My 3 month goal from the National Youth Ministry Conference was to develop a plan for praying for our youth on a regular basis. This would not replace the 3rd Thursday Prayer group (which, btw, actually meets this Thursday because of Maundy Thursday last week), but rather would be a supplement to it. [...]

Easter was a wonderful time, as usual, at First Trinity this weekend. If you felt like the church was a lot more crowded than usual, that’s because it was. Total attendance for the last three years:
2006: 596 People
2007: 625 People (4.9% increase)
2008: 735 People (17.6% increase)
That’s quite a jump in attendance, and we’re not entirely [...]

Seth Godin had an interesting post about some bad habits in his writing, specifically using the word “just” and “sort of” in his writing. I’m curious if anyone here has noticed what my “bad habits” are while writing on the blog. I’m trying to cut down on clutter in my posts and would love your [...]

His is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Easter is my favorite holiday of the year. I love the Easter hymns, the joyful feeling in the air, the traditional Easter greeting and celebrating the resurrection together as a church family. A wonderful day!
